Links to download the WeDo software can be found on LEGO Education Downloads. Although it is possible to untether the WeDo by powering the motor directly, it will not follow a program. Creations need to remain tethered to the computer for power and to follow a program. The original LEGO WeDo Core Set (9580) has 158 pieces, including two sensors (tilt and motion), a motor, and a USB hub. WeDo 1.0 (9580) Original LEGO WeDo Core Set WeDo (1.0 and 2.0) can also be programmed using Scratch. Additional curriculum materials are also available from LEGO Education. Curriculum support that is targeted to science and computing is available from within software. A video projector may be used to support your lesson, but its not required. One kit can be used to teach up to two children. Links to download the WeDo 2.0 software can be found on LEGO Education Downloads. All you need is a computer, an internet connection, and a robotics set (LEGO WeDo 1.0, or WeDo 2.0, or LEGO Mindstorms NXT, or EV3). The SmartHub is powered by either two AA batteries or a rechargeable battery pack (purchased separately). WeDo 2.0 features a programmable SmartHub that connects to a computer or tablet via Bluetooth Low Energy, meaning that there is no longer a need to physically tether creations to a computer (as was required with the original WeDo kit). 9580) és el kit de robòtica recomanat per a infants a partir de 7 anys. The WeDo 2.0 Software is available for desktops and tablets and is free to download. The LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 Core Set (45300) contains 280 pieces, including a motor, and tilt sensor, and motion sensor. WeDo 2.0 was released at the beginning of 2016. The original WeDo set was released in 2009. The link above goes directly to the WeDo section.LEGO WeDo is a robotics kit designed for younger students. Not all of the building instructions are included (yet) for the WeDo constructions displayed. This site, by Diego Gálvez, has constructions for both NXT and WeDo. The programmes for each project are available but not the building steps so users will have to figure them out for themselves from the photos and videos. Download and install all the software and student apps needed to successfully integrate SPIKE Prime, MINDSTORMS EV3, WeDo 2.0 and more into your classroom. It not only has the original 12 builds but some 20 more (and counting) with both visual building instructions and a video showing the completed project.įabio and Pietro Formenti have created a blog with awesome projects. There were 9 LEGO WeDo 1.0 blocks: 2 hat blocks, 5 stack blocks, and 2 reporter blocks. They replaced the motor blocks in Scratch 1.4 and were replaced by the LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 extension in Scratch 3.0. WeDoBots: The unofficial blog for LEGO WeDo Designs The LEGO WeDo 1.0 extension was an extension for Scratch 2.0 which allowed interacting with a LEGO WeDo 1.0 kit. Her blog includes a vehicle displaying some of the student creations. Stephanie Greer describes a mini-lesson, the “WeDo Vehicle Challenge” that she used with her 7 to 9th grade students in her after school club. Stefan even includes some rather sophisticated math to explain the centrifugal forces at work in the Governor project. Stefan Bracher has building directions and the programme for three very cool projects – Speed Governor, Rocket, and Cable Car. The list below is by no means complete and additions are welcome. There is also a fabulous developing list of activities (building projects) developed by teachers and robotics enthusiasts posted online. LEGO Education offered a set of four Extension activities and the WeDo 8+ Projects Curriculum Pack. Every lesson allows you to easily understand, through hands-on. Follow these lessons to understand the world around you by building and programming robots in Scratch. The WeDo kit comes with 12 activities that start with a motivating animation, followed by easy to follow building and programming directions. Enhanced with Scratch programming instruction, this series focuses on computers, helpful machines and engineering solutions that make cities run like clockwork.
